Perthnow.com reported on the African project that is expected to produce in 2012: Rich niobium deposits have been identified in Africa.
WA-based Globe Metals and Mining said it had found very high grades of near-surface mineralisation of niobium, tantalum and uranium at its Kanyika project in Malawi, central-west Africa. The project's existing JORC inferred and indicated resource is currently 55.1 million tonnes at 3000ppm niobium, including 4 million tonnes at 3800ppm niobium.Globe said the upgraded estimate is due at the end of this quarter and would be fed into the pit optimisation, mine design and scheduling components of its bankable feasibility study. Results of the drilling program included 16m at 11,725ppm niobium, 871ppm tantalum and 467ppm uranium that included a 3m intersection with 27,974ppm niobium, 2225ppm tantalum and 1127ppm uranium.
